International jazz singer, Toni Jannotta, speaks with George Alger about her new book and companion music CD, My Little Heart, Ruthie. The book is illustrated by Jennifer Mones.
In 1992, Jannotta wrote a children’s rhyme about what it felt like to be the victim of child abuse, attendant with the belief that she was to blame. “My Little Heart, Ruthie” is the result of her healing. The picture book is also accompanied by a narrated, jazz-inspired musical CD. Jannotta’s goal of the book and album is to remind all victims of abuse that what they suffered was not their fault.
